Our Team

Our people are extremely dedicated to what we do here at All Breed Rescue & Training. Meet our team and board who make everything we do possible!

Lauren Fox, CPDT-KA: Executive Director

Lauren has been the Executive Director of All Breed Rescue & Training in Colorado Springs since 1998. On the training side of the organization, she teaches group classes, and provides private consultations, evaluations, and counseling. On the other end, Lauren rescues and rehomes more than 100 dogs a year, and has personally fostered over 100 dogs. She presents training demonstrations and seminars at animal shelters, schools, libraries, and veterinary practices. She has taught both high school and college level courses in animal behavior, and has clicker-trained and rehabilitated hundreds of animals, including many breeds of dogs, wolves, wolf-crosses, cats, parrots, donkeys, and horses. Lauren currently shares her home with six dogs, a cat, an umbrella cockatoo, three donkeys, two 12-year-old human children, and one amazing spouse!

Sara Simon: Public Relations Director

Sara has been with All Breed Rescue & Training since 2010 and has a background in management and marketing. She has extensive volunteer experience in a variety of nonprofits. Sara has three dogs of her own: Obe a Pit-Dane, Finley a Chihuahua-Yorkie, and Phina a Chihuahua. She is a proud mother of boys and married to Miguel.

Jenni Scott: Office Manager

Jenni has extensive experience working in nonprofits, including her work at the Pikes Peak YMCA. As a dog-owner herself, she has unlimited dedication to all dog breeds. She is thrilled to be part of the All Breed Rescue & Training team!

Miguel Gonzalez, CPDT-KA: Lead Trainer and CGC Evaluator

Miguel has been with All Breed Rescue & Training since 2000. He started out as a client and is now the Lead Trainer. He acts as a mentor for student trainers and teaches Foundation Course, Neo-Dog, Canine Connection, and Canine Good Citizen, as well as off-shoot classes like Walk With Me and Skills. Miguel is always working on new and innovative ways to educate dog owners. He is the proud father of boys and married to Sara.

Julie Harbican: Trainer and Store Manager

Julie has been involved with All Breed Rescue & Training since 2001 when she started as a client. She is the store manager as well as an instructor. Julie currently teaches: Puppy Raising 101, Agility, Rally-O, Nose Knows, and Outdoor Adventure. She is currently an Adoption Champion (her current five dogs are all adopted from All Breed and she holds the All Breed record for her number of "foster failures") but is working hard to become a Foster Champion instead. She has currently given seven other dogs a place to stay until they find their forever home.

Currently Julie shares her home with her personal dogs, two foster dogs, a patient cat, and an even more patient sister, Karen. In her spare time (lots of laughing), Julie likes to cook, read, bead, crochet, and waste time on Facebook and Pinterest.

Karen Hancock, CPDT-KA: Trainer

Karen has been with All Breed Rescue & Training since 2008 when she won a free Foundation Course class at a dog show and brought her pug to the class. Karen enjoyed her class so much that she decided to join the student program. She fell in love with her first foster dog, Pharaoh. She learned that the dogs rescued by All Breed are wonderful dogs who just had bad beginnings. Karen lives with her "pack:" Minya (Pug), Pharaoh (Chi Mix), Fendi (Silky Terrier), and her current foster, Pippi Longneck (Chi Mix). She also has four parrots and four ducks who keep all the dogs in “their places and on their toes.”

Bryan Doerer, CPDT-KA: Trainer

Bryan has been with All Breed Rescue & Training since 2011. He currently teaches Foundation Course and Agility. He is our Board & Train program instructor and the Sponsorship Chair. Bryan really enjoys helping create closer relationships between dogs and people. His pack includes Nala, a 16-year-old Rott-Beagle Mix, and Bingo, a seven-month-old Pit-Mastiff-Boxer-Lab Mix. He shares his life with his wife, Helen, and a son, Nick.

Susan Spieker: Adoption/Foster Coordinator, Behavior Apprentice

Susan Spieker is a student trainer and a behavior counselor apprentice at All Breed Rescue & Training. She is also the Foster & Adoption team Lead. She has been at All Breed for two and a half years. She wants to make a difference in the lives of people and their dogs by helping them develop great relationships with each other. She believes she can do this through the training and behavior work that she does at All Breed. Susan has a dog at home, adopted through All Breed: Jasmine, a one-year-old Pitbull.

Jenna Haines: Adoption/Foster Coordinator, Behavior Apprentice

Jenna has been with All Breed Rescue & Training since 2011. She began by following her passion to help dogs and owners blossom. She is currently on the Behavior, Foster & Adoption, and Training teams to further this passion. When not working, she enjoys hiking, camping, being outdoors, listening to live music, and hula hooping. Her home pack is made up of Sexy Sadie, Tennessee Jed, and Cassidy (her first foster whom she adopted), and two crazy cats, Merlin and Yoda. She has also proudly fostered several puppies and continues to do so.

Cathy Gustavson: Adoption/Foster Team, Behavior Apprentice

Cathy has been with All Breed Rescue & Training since 2006. She is a trainer as well as a member of the Behavior team and the Foster & Adoption team. Her pack includes Dexter, an Aussie Mix; Cozy, a German Shepherd; and her red-headed adopted child, Rico, a Chow-Belgian-Tervuren Mix. She and her pack coexist peacefully for the most part! Dexter comes to work with Cathy as the neutral dog when she is working with reactive dogs. Rico comes to work with her to play with other dogs! Cozy keeps her brothers in line.

Judy Katz: Fundraising Coordinator / Volunteer

Judy started as a client at All Breed Rescue & Training in 2006 when training her dog Zoey. She soon began volunteering and coordinating Wash-a-thons and other fundraising events. She began fostering in 2010 with Beau, whom she eventually adopted, and has continued to foster other dogs. Her household also includes her current foster dog, Elle, and three horses. In her spare time, she enjoys antique car shows.

Dara Hoffman-Fox: Editor-in-Chief of Doggie Tails, Web-Dog

Dara has been a volunteer with All Breed Rescue & Training since 2007. She is the Editor-in-Chief of "Doggie Tails Newsletter," and assists with the All Breed website and other graphic design-related projects throughout the year. She also provides foster care for All Breed pups awaiting their forever homes and loving care to the Executive Director of All Breed.

Ruth Knox: Front Desk, Booth Coordinator and Volunteer

Ruth became a part of All Breed Rescue & Training in 2009, when she adopted Sandy. Ruth hoped that she would be a therapy dog, and indeed, Sandy achieved her certification. She went from being quite shy to expecting that everyone would want to pet her. She loves going places and meeting new people. Right now, she prefers the action in her Agility class. In 2011, Ruth took in Crystal as a foster dog, and eventually adopted her. Crystal is still shy and timid when she goes out in the world, but at home she is smart, sweet, mischievous, and full of energy. Crystal surprised everyone by achieving the Top Dog Award–despite her fears–in her Canine Connection class. Ruth continues to support All Breed because there are a lot of other dogs out there, like Sandy and Crystal, who can grow to be the best companions with the right support and care.

Chris Spinato: Event Coordinator and Volunteer

Chris has been a client at All Breed Rescue & Training since 2005. Her family includes her husband, Jeff, and at present, three crazy dogs. She has a 12-year-old Belgian-Tervuren Mix named Max and two Chihuahuas who were both adopted from All Breed: a five-year-old fawn colored girl named Peanut and a four-year-old brindle girl named Biscuit. They all love to go camping, hiking, and to Roving with Rover happy hours! Chris was on the All Breed Board of Directors for several years and was also the fundraising chairperson for a year. She has worked on many committees and volunteered for many events, but is most known for chairing the Whine & Cheese event for most of its nine year span. For 2013/2014, she is working on our newest event, the Doggie Dash 5k! She loves finding ways to raise money for All Breed while making sure we all have some fun too.
